2023 SPPA Officers
Nettie Fischer
President
Nettie Fischer moved to Olde Towne Portsmouth in 2004 because of her love of history and beautiful architecture. She opened a shop on High Street 6 years ago and currently serves as President of The Olde Towne Business Association. Nettie has been on the board of the SPPA for 5 years and continues in the important effort of creating and establishing art throughout the City of Portsmouth consistently working towards the beautification and betterment of Portsmouth.
Dr. John Joyce
Vice-President
Originally from the southwestern Virginia mountains, John graduated from Emory & Henry College, a Masters degree from Louisiana University at Lafayette, and MD from EVMS. He taught biology and chemistry at colleges in Virginia for 10 years and practiced 4 years as a family physician with the
U.S. Navy and 26 years with Sentara until his retirement in December, 2020. Presently John volunteers at Paradise Creek Nature Park, works in the neighborhood parks in Olde Towne, and sits on the governing boards of Portsmouth Historical Association and SPPA.
Dawn Richardson
Treasurer
Dawn Richardson is a lifelong art lover. She retired from the US Navy where she traveled the world. She is a proud homeowner in historic Olde Towne Portsmouth and has been active in the civic league and city commissions. Daily you can see her walking her beloved dog Jack in the neighborhood.
Anne Glenn
Secretary
Anne Glenn retired in 2015 after a career in a variety of healthcare positions including nursing, software training, and business analysis. Since retirement, Anne has enjoyed occasional, small character roles in film and television. Being a volunteer with SPPA has provided her with a new, fun, and challenging change of pace.
