Three murals of three famous musicians native to Portsmouth–Tommy Newsom, Ruth Brown, and Bill Deal – grace the old Colony Theater at 430 High Street. The three murals were painted by artist Mandy Smith of Yorktown, VA.

Bill Deal of the famous Bill Deal and the Rhondels is one of the three murals painted by Mandy Smith, displayed on 430 High Street on the front of the old Colony Theater.

The mural of Portsmouth citizen “Commodore James Barron” was painted by Sam Welty. It is located on the south wall of 606 Court Street in Guad's parking lot.

“Speckled Trout”, a mural painted by Sam Welty, on north side of 464 Dinwiddie Street between the Baron's Pub and Monumental United Methodist Church.

The mural of former “Mayor James Holley III” located at the City Park Pavillion at 140 City Park Avenue was painted by artist Linwood Pettaway.
